I did a core update and now as the title suggests all titles run slow and stutters. ADF LHA etc. All ran beautifully before (ECS,OCS), unfortunately I do not have a core backup… so no chance to roll back.
I am running Retroarch 32bit on a Android TV system. Core was originally installed in Nov 13 I think.
Any help would be appreciated as I can no longer play any titles.

With the previous version, the 3ec4903, which is in the 1.9.14 cores, with that yes they load the WHD (hdf) as before.

Hi sonninnos,
Thank you for the continued work on the PUAE libretro implementation.
I'm trying to use RA's low latency audio driver "WASAPI" with PUAE but I can't get it to work without a lot of audio glitches and frame pacing issues.
The benefit of using WASAPI as the driver for audio is that it allows for audio latency <10ms, which would be a huge improvement over the currently working XAudio driver latency.
To replicate the issue, set "Drivers -> Audio" to wasapi. Then exit RA and restart. Then go to menu "Audio -> Output" which will now show the wasapi settings "Exclusive Mode", "Float format" and "Shared buffer length", this last setting is only showing when the setting "User Interface -> Show advanced settings" is enabled.
You will notice that PUAE will experience sound crackling and frame pacing issues with any setting. Note that you have to have Frame Delay setting OFF / set to "0" as wasapi mode is not compatible with it.
**Some further information**
I noticed many libretro cores have issues when the WASAPI driver is enabled, and only a few seem to actually be compatible with it. Like for example the beetle PC-Engine fast core. It seems to work without issues for me when enabling "Exclusive" and setting the latency to 3 or lower. The log reports 3ms (!) latency when setting the latency to "0" which makes it open the lowest possible driver allowed latency. Another one that seems to work properly is the mesen (NES) core.
The developer that implemented the WASAPI driver said the following when asked about issue with certain cores:
> Most important stat’s are average input chunk lengths and average blocking times. If input data duration is shorter than device period (reported after client initialization) and intermediate buffer is off, there probably will be issues. The same goes for blocking periods that are longer than device period. Unfortunately audio driver can’t influence either of those two things.
>
> I tested bsnes-mercury-balanced core and data chunks are too small (below 100 frames) while device period is 480 frames (in shared-mode on my machine). This is why WASAPI driver have problems with this core.
So it seems like a core needs to be properly "tuned" to work with the wasapi low latency audio driver?
Since we have a good reference with WinUAE, which has a working WASAPI implementation I searched for the github commits that implement the WASAPI changes for RA and for WinUAE. Maybe they can be of help.
WinUAE WASAPI implementation was updated with the 3.4.0 release in 2016, see this commit: [WASAPI sound improvements. ](https://github.com/tonioni/WinUAE/commit/c1d006830b01bf5a0b75332c52b1c242be34235d#diff-f2c36d3ff4f413480b62f708e5ddadb7e6a80181ddc742add858b1b76358886c)
In this I see some buffer related changes, and things like:
> // magic adjustment
sd->sndbufsize = sd->sndbufsize * 2 / 3;
RA's WASAPI implementation was done in 2017 with the 1.6.0 release. See the initial commit here: [add wasapi audio driver](https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/commit/129151d5fc97449261dfb5939e43634d884494a3)
(single RA wasapi.c here: [retroarch/audio/drivers/wasapi.c](https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/blob/master/audio/drivers/wasapi.c) )
A quick glance over the commits I see in the WinUAE update things like;
```
// wasapi
IMMDevice *pDevice;
- IAudioClient *pAudioClient;
+ IAudioClient3 *pAudioClient;
```
Whereas in RA's wasapi commit I don't see any reference to changes from IAudioClient to IAudioClient3.
Which I understand from [https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/audio/low-latency-audio](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/audio/low-latency-audio), if you look further down the page under the header "Windows Audio Session API (WASAPI)" makes quite a difference.
So maybe this will be as simple as a buffer size change on the PUAE libretro core, but to be honest I doubt it. This of course has the potential to be a rabbithole very deep, since incompatiblity issues could stem from the core side, RA's wasapi implementation or the interaction between them. Nonetheless I hope it has your interest to look into the issue, as the benefit could potentially be a much reduced audio latency for the PUAE core.

Hi !
Using the latest RA (snap packages) and puae core, I noticed that the keyboards events are not passed when enabling both "game focus mode" (general settings) and "keyboard pass-through".
HOWEVER, they are passed when using the pass-through without the focus-mode - which is not optimal because one has to unbind all RA events. <-- this bit is actually wrong, see below
Thanks a lot for your commitment in improving the puae core, that is SO much appreciated :-)
cheers

Hi ! I am encountering the following floppy disks related issue.
Configuration : KDE Neon (Ubuntu 20.04 based) + snap packages of Retroarch (up to date).
I cannot swap disks in non Multidisk mode, even if they are in a M3U playlist and even if I eject and select the new disk properly
HOWEVER I did manage to get some MultiDisk games work in MD mode (for example Athanor 2, as this game supports several floppy drivers)
I guess I'm definitely doing something wrong :-)

Automatic Mount (Easiest Method)
Before proceeding, make sure the usbromservice (Optional packages section) is installed and enabled, especially if you have installed RetroPie manually.
Create a folder called retropie-mount on the USB drive
Plug into Raspberry Pi
It will proceed to automatically copy the RetroPie folder AND all of its contents (you may need to reboot to start the copying)

User error is a strong possibility here as I'm not very familiar with the Amiga, however it's worth noting that this core is fairly ... unstable on Wii U as a whole, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were other issues.
When launching a WHDLoad game, I see behavior identical to #381. I simply get dropped onto the Kickstart screen (I assume--the gray AmigaDOS workbench screen). I don't have the BootHD option configured as was the issue there and I'm not forcing any specific hardware. Here is a log of me attempting to launch a game.
[retroarch.log](https://github.com/libretro/libretro-uae/files/6647129/retroarch.log)
The part that looks most suspect to me in the log is the following:
```
[libretro INFO] WHDLoad failed to install 'kick33180.A500'
[libretro INFO] WHDLoad failed to install 'kick34005.A500'
[libretro INFO] WHDLoad failed to install 'kick40063.A600'
[libretro INFO] WHDLoad failed to install 'kick40068.A1200'
```
I have all of those files in my `retroarch/cores/system` directory, and they seem to be recognized without issue when running ADF format games.
Besides this, there's a whole bevy of Wii U issues
- Loading a CHD for a CD32 game, full console crash
- Loading a CD32 game (bin/cue) then exiting or restarting RetroArch, full console crash
- The claimed default key mappings are nonworking (e.g. RetroPad X does *not* trigger Keyboard Space unless the user explicitly maps it as such)
- Physical keyboards are completely nonfunctional--they work in other cores like VICE x64 for Commodore 64 emulation, but do nothing here
- This is another one that may be a me problem, but the one CD32 game I tried to play (The Humans) launches into the language selection screen, then once I select a language, drops me back at the CD32 BIOS animation. I can keep doing this on an endless loop
The result of this is that the core is of fairly limited use on Wii U. Keyboard-heavy games are basically unusable without a physical keyboard (the virtual keyboard *exists* but is not a satisfying way to play anything), and WHDLoad and CD32 support may both be completely broken (latter needs more testing). Floppy disk format games which rely only on the joystick seem like the only truly playable content on this platform.

Hi all!
Hardware: Odroid XU4
Retropie: 4.7.11
Retroarch: Build from April 6th 2021
lr-puae: Build from May 2nd 2021 (updating now for the last 4 versions thats why i write now an issue here)
Memory: using retropie-mount directory on a USB Stick.
Tried now with 2 Games where i know i have to Swap discs after first Disc loading and tried everything to load them but always will result in a crash. With Singledisk games i have no Problems at all - had no single crash even playing through many titles. Following logs beneath here should describe the disc swap process after loading disc 1 correctly and requires disc 2.
Tried already all following procedures with Disc Swapping
- Tried to "pure" load *.zip files individually (via Retroarch Menu as described in readme)
- Tried to "pure" load *.adf individually (via Retroarch Menu as described in readme) (logs beneath are using this method)
- Tried to use M3U files with *.adf
- Tried to zip ADFs and loading it that way
- Tried it with (MD) as also without (example: Alien Breed (A500+) (MD))
- Tried to use the Name Convention for Discs as also without Name convention as described in the Readme, as ADF as also ZIP
Alien Breed Amiga 500+ (CRC of BIOS is the same as in the List) - crashes retroarch completely and goes back to emulationstation with following /dev/shm/runcommand.log:

I'm on RetroArch 1.9.0 on Nintendo Switch with newest core available from Core Updater (PUAE 2.6.1 e187a61). Additionally, I have observed the same behavior in an older build (bundled within RetroArch 1.9.0 for Switch).
To trigger a crash it is enough to just 'Load Core -> Commodore Amiga (P-UAE)', 'Start Core', (wait a few seconds and then enter a RetroArch menu), 'Close Content', 'Load Core -> Commodore Amiga (P-UAE)' (which is NOT the same as 'Start Core') and then it crashes with 'The software was closed because an error occured'. Tried with different cores, games, even quitting and re-launching RetroArch or different homebrew. Tried with fresh config for P-UAE, all sysmodules disabled, etc. and still no deal.
So this looks like some memory leak inside P-UAE.https://git.libretro.com/libretro/libretro-uae/-/issues/402Issues on iOS 14.4.2 with whdload games2021-04-15T00:16:37ZLibretro-AdminIssues on iOS 14.4.2 with whdload games*Created by: fatoune*

First of all, thanks for giving me a chance to live once again these magic moments from my early teenage youth - I am really grateful for all the efforts put into this work!
I am attempting to use lr-puae on my first RetroArch install on iOS - my .lha files, which work on Android and RetroPie, do not load here (black or yellow screen) - and the same happens for for dhf files.
I have all required kickstarts in place, and also attempted to force A1200 (2+8mb) but still no success.
Same result if whdload support is set to files or archive.
I can successfully launch afd files, and load the core without any content.
However, the entire retroarch freezes if I try to restart the core or close the content.
Any hints appreciated!https://git.libretro.com/libretro/libretro-uae/-/issues/352Potential Frame Skip Improvements, very very experimental:) Look, though!2020-11-30T23:16:39ZLibretro-AdminPotential Frame Skip Improvements, very very experimental:) Look, though!*Created by: KMFDManic*

Greetings @sonninnos @rsn8887 I have been working with other Updates, and work more recently. But, still staying very close and attuned to one of my absolute favorite Cores, P-UAE! I think THIS coding path may potentially be viable to help boost AGA/1200 games out with lower spec! This is just an idea tossed up in the air. I am going to practice practical application of it, when I do get a chance, if either of you don't beat me to it! I opened a similar issue with the other Core I work with, MAME 2003!

And, while we are all here. What I am most curious about, even though you two normally don't work with Atari Jaguar. What is your opinion of any implementation of frame skipping and/or enhancement for this?

First, fantastic job with this core! With all the nice improvements and changes lately, this has become my default Amiga emulator replacing upstream fs-uae.
Thought I would request a few features that would hopefully help to bring the core up to parity with upstream projects. For easier tracking I thought I would include them together rather than as individual issue requests, though I can break them out if need be:
1. Support for creating HDF hard drive images. fs-uae permits this via the fs-uae-launcher main menu. Would be great if this core could do the same via the RA UI.
2. Support for expansion boards. Again, fs-uae supports multiple expansion boards for accelerator (blizzard/cyberstorm), scsi, graphics (UAEGFX, Picasso II Zorro etc.), sound (toccata) and network (a2065) cards. [Video Toaster](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Toaster) support would be a nice addition as well, even if not supported by fs-uae.
3. Support for saving content to floppies. Haven't been able to confirm that this core *doesn't* permit saving but i haven't seen or read anywhere that it does either (and there's no core-specific wiki yet). Ideally content would be saved via a change or diff file rather than writing over the original floppy itself, though the option could be available via toggle.
4. Internal inclusion of capsimg. Note that fs-uae doesn't do this either but thought I would ask in case it's possible, in the interest of gaining some usability.
